BBQ Outfitters History
BBQ Outfitters began in 1998 when Bob Carroll opened a tiny 800 sq’ BBQ Grill Store in Rollingwood, Texas. With the help of a sagely mentor by the name of Ron Harper, BBQ Outfitters took on Outdoor Kitchens Products, the Big Green Egg and Weber Grills. With these product lines, BBQ Outfitters grew into a two store operation with an additional store in Round Rock, Texas.
In 2004, the Company built a 5000 sq’ building with indoor and outdoor showrooms. The Company moved both old locations into a this single “super store” on Ranch Road 620 in west Austin. In addition to showroom sales, BBQ Outfitters has been in the ecommerce business selling nationwide since 2004.
In 2006, BBQ Outfitters licensed the "BBQ Outfitters" name to Paul Denison, a former employee, in order to help Paul open a grill store in Southlake, Texas. Paul and his wife Mickey have done an incredible job of growing their business into one of the premier grill stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Sadly, Paul passed away in 2015 and Mickey continues to do an outstanding job running BBQ Outfitters - Southlake.
In 2012, BBQ Outfitter purchased land in San Antonio and constructed another 5000 sq' building with indoor and outdoor showrooms. That store opened in the summer of 2014 and has exceeded all expectations from day one.
BBQ Outfitters has grown into the largest Big Green Egg and Weber grill stores in Texas and is a top performer across the nation with DCS, Alfresco, Twin Eagles, Traeger, AOG/Firemagic, Blaze, Saber and Kamado Joe.
